Healthy Snacks For Kids
Now that it’s back to school, it’s back to packing snacks for the kids. Here’s some ideas for healthy snacks for the kids!
Fruit
Fresh fruit makes a great healthy snack for school but can get messy. Send pre-chopped fruit with a small fork to school. Or send a tangerine that is pre-peeled with a napkin or fork too. Whole bananas are good for older kids, and you can send it in a plastic banana holder so it doesn’t get smashed on its journey to school!
Dried Fruit
Dried fruit makes a delicious and healthy school snack as well. My kids enjoy banana chips, raisins or dried cranberries. You might try dried apricots, strawberries or apple chips as well. All of these are easy to pack in a reusable container.
Veggies
Send some baby carrots, chopped cucumbers or chopped bell peppers. If your child prefers their veggies with dips then send some hummus in a reusable container or some cream cheese or some guacamole.
Cheese
Cheese is a delicious snack for school with some protein too. My own children enjoy cheese sticks or cheese cubes in a reusable snack container.
Nuts
This is a good option too unless the school or classroom is a nut-free zone. Try sending almonds, cashews or walnuts. Your child also might enjoy some of these paired with cheese or fresh fruit.
Prepackaged Snacks
Sometimes you need a fast, prepackaged snack for those early school mornings. Try some granola bars or some rice rollers snacks. The rice rollers snacks are made of brown rice and usually come in a few flavor varieties depending on the brand. Another easy, pre- packaged snack are yogurt or fruit squeeze pouches. These come in multiple flavors and fruit varieties. Some of the fruit pouches also have vegetables in them.
Crackers
Your child might enjoy some whole wheat crackers with peanut butter, cream cheese or some guacamole. You can usually find some small, individually packaged guacamole in the produce section of the grocery store.
Lastly, get your kids involved and have them help you pack their delicious and healthy snacks for school the night before. I hope everyone has a great back-to-school season!
